We’ve had a fun and busy 2023 at the Wellesley, we held another very successful open day, refreshed our skills on specialist staff training courses and welcomed some new members to our team. Here’s a look back at our year:
Invisalign Open Day
Back in March we held a hugely popular Invisalign Open Day. This offered an opportunity for people who were curious about Invisalign to come in, ask questions, see what their treatment outcomes might look like and – if they decided to go ahead – get a MASSIVE exclusive discount on their treatment, saving over £1,500, with free teeth whitening! We said goodbye to Helena and welcomed Nive to the team
At the end of March, we said goodbye to Dr Helena Sampaio who left the Wellesley to take on a new role and welcomed Niventhy Nathan (aka Nive) to the team.
Nive qualified as a dentist from the University of Malaya in 2005 and completed her Specialist Orthodontic Training at Guy’s Hospital in London in 2013.
She has worked in Malaysia for the past 10 years, providing orthodontic services, managing all kinds of cases from simple treatments to complex cases that needed a multidisciplinary approach in order to resolve the issues involved, e.g. orthognathic (jaw) surgery, cleft palate, or facial deformities.
Nive obtained her License in Dental Surgery in 2019 in order to be able to work in the UK main area of interest is the use of Temporary Anchorage Devices to tackle difficult cases.

This year we also welcomed Silvia Colesniuc and Mirela Kolbe to the team as trainee dental assistants. You can meet the rest of the team and find out more about who is treating you at the Wellesley on our Meet the Team page.
We celebrated National Smile Month
From May 15th – June 15th we celebrated National Smile Month. A month-long campaign filled with events and activities to help raise awareness of the important issues surrounding oral health, organised by dental charity, the Oral Health Foundation.
This year’s National Smile Month theme was ‘Brush for Better Health’ and each week they focused on specific topics, aimed at raising awareness of oral health issues and some of the things that both dental practitioners and patients can do to make sure that everyone has the healthy smile they deserve.
We had an Infection control Training Day
In June we participated in an infection control training day with the whole team. As part of our ongoing commitment to our patients we regularly refresh and update both our equipment and our skills here at the practice, in order to provide the best service possible. Which is why we took part in this important specialised infection control training with Safe+Sound.
Subjects covered included:
- The importance of Infection Prevention and Control
- Practical tips to comply with HTM 01-05
- Cross infection, the different types of infection (their associated diseases) and recognising the routes of infection
- What’s the difference between cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation?
- Safe handling and decontamination of instruments
- Disinfection and sterilisation of instruments, impressions and surfaces
- Cleaning, maintaining and the testing of Ultra-Sonic Baths, Autoclaves, Aspirators and Suction Units
We supported Mouth Cancer Action Month
Every November, the Oral Health Foundation highlights awareness of this preventable disease with Mouth Cancer Action Month, a crucial initiative to raise awareness about mouth cancer, its risk factors, and the importance of early detection.

Reflecting on 2023
Yet again, we have had another busy, interesting and fun-filled year here at the Wellesley and we would like to thank all our patients for supporting us and leaving such lovely reviews throughout the year.
