When it comes to orthodontics, it can be difficult to choose the right treatment to suit your needs and we are always happy to talk through your options with you before you choose. We have a range of orthodontic treatments available at the Wellesley including Fixed Braces, Functional Appliances and Invisalign. Today we are going to talk about Invisalign and why it is such a popular choice with our clients (and celebrities too!)
What is Invisalign?
As the name suggests, Invisalign is an almost invisible aligner that is used to reposition your teeth into their desired position. It is a popular choice with adults because it is removable and invisible, allowing you to go about your daily business without anyone even realising you are having orthodontic treatment.
Invisalign aligners can be used to correct both minor and major issues, taking an average of six months to produce noticeable results, although the treatment itself may take longer. Each case it different, but most patients say they can feel a difference after three months and the results are visible after six months of treatment.
Invisalign is the most advanced clear aligner system in the world. There are no wires or brackets and they are removable so you can take them out to eat or drink and they should have little impact on your daily life. As long as you wear them for 22 hours a day your treatment will stay on track.
As more people choose ‘adult orthodontics’ to help correct issues this is the perfect way to get the treatment you need without feeling self-conscious or making drastic changes to your diet or oral health routine.

How does Invisalign work?
We start by taking a 3D digital scan of your teeth and then work with you to create a custom treatment plan. We will also show you a 3D visualisation of how your teeth are going to look one the treatment is complete, before we get started.
You’ll have regular check-ups, every 6-8 weeks and change aligners for the next phase of your treatment, as required.
Invisalign can be used to treat crowded teeth, overbite, cross bite, gap teeth, an open bite and for straightening your teeth out in general. The little things that other people may not notice can often be the big things that bug us. we understand that getting your teeth fixed can make a tremendous difference to your self-esteem. You can fially stop covering your mouth in photographs or feel more confident speaking and smiling.

Why choose Invisalign?
The discreet, almost invisible treatment means that Invisalign are a great choice for teens and adults who might otherwise feel self-conscious wearing conventional braces.

Plus, if you choose Invisalign you’re in good company…
Justin Bieber was very open about his Invisalign treatment which he used to treat his crowded teeth. He chose Invisalign partly because he was already famous at that point and wanted something discreet – and he also found them much more comfortable than traditional orthodontic options.
Fellow singer Katy Perry also got Invisalign when she was 23, to treat her crowded and crooked lower teeth.
Glastonbury headliner Billie Eilish went public with her use of Invisalign, she talks about them and takes them out at the start of the video for Bad Guy. She had the treatment to close up a minor gap between her teeth.
Tennis ace Serena Williams had traditional orthodontic treatment when she was 16. She then chose to use Invisalign to improve her smile later in her career (probably a result of not wearing her retainer after her initial treatment as instructed!)
Model-turned-actress Katherine Heigl chose Invisalign to correct two wonky teeth in time for her wedding:
“All my life, I’ve had two teeth that stuck out, and I’d been fine with it in my film career. But, for my wedding, I wasn’t OK with it. So I got Invisalign and I remember when we were filming, I was always having to take them out to do my dialogue or do a scene.”
Actor Zac Effron also used Invisalign after he became famous – for a minor improvement, closing up a gap between his front teeth. Just google some old pictures from High School Musical if you’d like to see a before and after!
What are our patients saying about Invisalign?
Here’s a recent 5-Star Google review from Sorca:
“I have been a patient at this practice for many years and cannot recommend them highly enough. The care has always been so attentive and thorough, and everyone is so friendly and courteous. I most recently had Invisalign treatment, which has simply been life-changing. Dr Lam made every step of the way easy for me, and I always able to arrange appointments to suit my schedule. Thank you so much everyone, I am most incredibly pleased with my new smile!”
How much does Invisalign cost?
One thing you may be asking yourself after discovering that Invisalign is favoured by so many celebs, is how much does it cost? It really depends on the severity of your problem and the amount of treatment that you need. This is something you can discuss before you commit and if you want to spread the cost of your treatment we are now able to offer a finance option for our patients with Tabeo (subject to status). You can find out more about this on our ‘finance options’ page.
